Provost/Vice President
Responsibilities: Reporting directly to President,
the position will provide leadership in planning, development, assessment,
and implementation. The successful candidate will have a commitment
and capacity to evaluate continuously and enhance the Universitys
academic programs to ensure excellence, growth and competitiveness;
promote the universitys core values; demonstrate the ability to
think and act strategically; be innovative; establish positive relationships
with faculty, staff, students, and administration.
Qualifications: Candidates must have strong academic
and leadership credentials; evidence of successful teaching; research
and administrative abilities; must have an earned doctorate degree;
senior faculty and academic management experience. Previous experience
in conducting academic duties in an international setting and knowledge
of Armenia, NIS countries and the Middle East is preferred but not
required.
Requirements: This position requires the incumbent
to reside in Armenia. It will require interaction with U.S. Embassy,
Armenian Government, Funding Agencies; coordination for joint programs
with other universities; publishing or presenting papers at scholarly
conferences.
Director and Assistant Professor
Environmental Conservation and Research Center
The American University of Armenia (AUA) seeks an Environmental Scientist at the Assistant or Associate Professor level to direct the Environmental Conservation and Research Center. The successful candidate will lead the Academic Program in Environmental Science and Conservation (a component of the Research Center) and will be expected to teach an introductory course on environmental science and conservation and oversee original student research projects. As research center director, the candidate will establish an externally funded research program, building on the Centers record in contributing towards Armenias sustainable development through public outreach, professional collaboration, and original research.

Full-time teaching position in the Law Department
Qualifications: Candidates must be lawyers with a strong academic background and preferably some teaching experience. Their legal knowledge should encompass some areas of international or comparative law. Although the language of teaching at AUA is English, knowledge of Armenian and/or Russian would be valuable.
Responsibilities: In addition to the primary teaching responsibilities, the position may include a role in administering the Law Department and /or its research arm.
Requirements: This position requires the incumbent to reside in Armenia for some nine months of the year. It also requires a commitment of two years.
Position Start Date: January 1, 2005
Salary and Benefits: Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. Benefits include housing and round-trip travel.
