Tuition Fees

Applicants should carefully consider the financing of their education at AUA from the time of their admission to the completion of their degree. Please note that fees are subject to change without notice. At the time of registration, applicants are classified as citizen or non-citizen according to the laws of Armenia.

The application fee to AUA is US$12 (citizens of Armenia) or US$55 (foreign citizens).
The tuition for students in the Academic Preparatory Course, which consists of training in English language and computer skills, is US$3,000 for the entire program. While the tuition fee is the same for all students, citizens and long-term residents of Armenia and Commonwealth Independent States (CIS) citizens will receive a scholarship covering a portion of the tuition fee. Tuition fee paid, therefore, is US $735 for citizens and long-term residents of Armenia and US $1,470 for CIS citizens.

The tuition fee for students in Degree Programs at AUA is US$6,000 per year or US$2,000 per quarter. While the tuition fee is the same for all students, citizens and long-term residents of Armenia and CIS citizens will receive a scholarship covering a portion of the tuition fee. From January 2004 to December 2004 the tuition fee paid, therefore, is US$1750 per year (US$583 per quarter) per student for citizens and long-term residents of Armenia, and US$3500 per year (US$1166 per quarter) per student for citizens of the CIS.

The tuition fee schedule will be posted by the Office of the Registrar on a quarterly basis. Fees may be refunded if students withdraw from enrollment, provided they file a "Petition to Withdraw" before the second week of classes. Tuition fees will not be refunded after the second week of classes.

MERIT SCHOLARSHIP POLICY

It is the intent of AUA’ s Scholarship policy that all AUA students make some financial contribution towards their education. Thus, fees will be assessed on a sliding scale by program and cohort, as follows:

  • The top 10% by cumulative GPA, as calculated (unrounded) at the end of each quarter, within a program cohort receive an 80% award.
  • The second 10% by cumulative GPA, as calculated (unrounded) at the end of each quarter, within a program cohort receive a 70% award.
  • The third 10% by cumulative GPA, as calculated (unrounded) at the end of each quarter, within a program cohort receive a 60% award.
  • The fourth 10% by cumulative GPA, as calculated (unrounded) at the end of each quarter, within a program cohort receive a 50% award quarter.

The remaining 60% of the program cohort receive no award and pay the current fee for citizens or long-term residents of Armenia. Scholarships are awarded only to students in good standing at the University.

Merit scholarships are only given to students who are Armenian citizens or who have a special residency status in Armenia. All these students, however, are included in the calculations described above.
