Bay Area AGBU and St. Johns Church of SF Host Lecture on the AUA
San Francisco, CA - A unique public forum was organized by the San Francisco-Oakland AGBU chapter in conjunction with St. John Armenian Church of San Francisco and the American University of Armenia (AUA). Entitled "Helping to Shape the Future of Armenia," over 100 guests attended to hear firsthand from Deans and faculty members representing the Engineering, Public Health, and Law departments of the AUA. AUA has been a major project of the AGBU with its continuous and generous support since its inception.
Opening remarks were made by AGBU San Francisco-Oakland Chair, Mrs. Ashken Mouradian, and Father Sarkis Petoyan of St. John Church opened the forum with prayer. Honorable Judge Aram Serverian served as moderator. Guest speakers included Prof. Armen Der Kiureghian, Dean of the College of Engineering and a founding member of the AUA, Dr. Krikor Soghikian, a visiting faculty member in AUA's Public Health Program, Professor Stephen Barnett, Dean of the Law Department, with faculty members Professor Matthew Karanian and Professor Sara Anjargolian, and AUA law graduate, Mrs. Evelina Manukyan.
"The partnership between the AGBU and AUA is very important and we are proud to support this University as it participates in the development and betterment of Armenia. We look forward to organizing future community events to keep the public aware of the exciting and innovative activities at the AUA," said AGBU San Francisco-Oakland Chair, Mrs. Ashken Mouradian. The event helped raise over $4,000 for the American University of Armenia.
