• Question: Who do I contact for the following: 1) getting my apartment cleaned; 2) having my laundry washed; or 3) having repairs made within my apartment (leaking faucets and so forth)?

• Question: Where can I buy groceries?
• Answer: There are numerous food markets or grocery stores. See the guide booklet, “Yerevan. General Information” page 3.

• Question: How can I dispose of my garbage?
• Answer: Ordinarily, there are garbage cans in your neighborhood. Ask your landlord or neighbors. You may also contact Faculty Services office in case you could not locate a dumpster.

• Question: Can I drink the tap water?
• Answer: This is probably not a good idea. It is advisable to boil or filter your water. You may want to use bottled water, such as “Noy”. Bottled water is sold in most food stores.

• Question: How do I refill the propane tank?
• Answer: Please contact Faculty Services office. This is a free service for our faculty. Please do not try to contact various specialized agencies on your own because the gas tanks they install may be old and unsafe.

• Question: What do I do if I smell a gas in my apartment?
• Answer: Stop using the gas stove; open up the windows, and immediately try to contact Faculty Services or Administrative personnel. See “AUA. General Information” brochure for their home numbers. In general, keep a window open when you are using a gas stove.

• Question: How could I arrange for business and personal transportation?
• Answer: Please contact the secretary in your department or Garik Karapetian at gkarapet@aua.am for arranging transportation for business purposes. He can be helpful for arranging transportation for personal purposes as well. There are also a number of taxi companies you may want to call for personal transportation. See “Yerevan, General Information”, pp. 14-15.

• Question: Who do I contact for arranging tickets for cultural events?
• Answer: The Faculty Services office is available to assist with these requests. They also email weekly updates of cultural events.

• Question: Are there shower facilities at AUA?
• Answer: Yes, they are located in the basement. Please ask your secretary to reserve the time for you. Also, see “AUA. General Information”, page 7.

• Question: Who do I contact for extension of my visa and/or for helping with personal or business travel?
• Answer: See Armen Petrosian in the Faculty Services office.
